Health insurance

To enable jobvalley to employ you, we require some essential information regarding your health insurance. Specifically, you need to inform us which statutory health insurance provider (gesetzliche Krankenkasse) you are registered with, or which one you would like to be registered with in the case of a working student or full social security-liable employment.

You can easily enter this information in your profile within the jobvalley app. Simply navigate to your profile and select Billing Data (Abrechnungsdaten). There, you will find the sub-item Health Insurance (Krankenversicherung), where you can provide your details.

Insurance as a Student

As a student, you are generally covered either via student health insurance or through your parents via family insurance. Family insurance covers you free of charge as long as you do not exceed certain income limits. Student health insurance takes effect if you exceed the age limit or the income thresholds for family insurance.

It is important that you clarify your earnings limits with your health insurance provider to ensure you remain covered under your current insurance type. These limits depend on various factors, such as whether you are working as a working student or are employed full-time during semester breaks.

Selecting a Statutory Health Insurance Provider

If you are registered with a statutory health insurance provider, you can simply select your provider from a list of insurance companies in the app. This selection is crucial to ensure that your contributions are correctly transferred if you take up employment subject to social security contributions.

Summary

  • Enter your health insurance data in the app under Paroll Data – Health Insurance.

  • Verify whether you are insured via a statutory, private, or foreign insurance provider.

  • Clarifying earnings limits is particularly important if you are in family or student health insurance.

  • Select your statutory health insurer from the list in the app if you are covered by statutory insurance.

  • Providing accurate details is essential so that jobvalley can employ you correctly and send the required notifications to the insurance providers.

Private or Foreign Health Insurance

If you have private or foreign health insurance, you must state during registration that you are not a member of a statutory health insurance provider. Once you have selected this, please read the displayed information carefully and then click Next.

At this stage, you must select a statutory "substitute" health insurance provider (gesetzliche Ersatzkrankenkasse). The reason for this is that private or foreign health insurance providers cannot process social security contributions. Therefore, it is necessary to name a statutory health insurance provider as a substitute to handle these payments.

This information becomes vital if you are billed as a working student or within the framework of full social security-liable employment, as social security contributions are mandatory in these cases. You do not need to provide the details of your actual private or foreign insurance, as it plays no role in the transfer of social security contributions.

You have a free choice of which statutory health insurance provider you would like to be registered with for this purpose. You can select a suitable statutory provider from the list in our app. This ensures that social security contributions are correctly paid and all legal requirements are met.
